Sweet & Tangy Asian Meatballs

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground pork or ground beef
  • 1 cup baby portabello mushrooms minced
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup Panko or breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 egg
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • 1/4 cup minced onion
  • 1/4 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup parsley chopped
  • 1 cup thai sweet chili sauce

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, heat 2 teaspoons of olive oil.
  2. Saute the mushrooms, onion and garlic for 4-5 minutes, until they're tender and wilted.
  3. Remove the cooked veggies from the heat and set aside to cool.
  4. In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, sesame oil, Panko, egg, cooked veggies, five spice, parsley and soy sauce.
  5. Form 1" meatballs and place them onto a baking sheet lined with a baking rack.
  6. Broil the meatballs at 425 degrees F for 12-15 minutes, or until the meatballs and browned and cooked through.
  7. While the meatballs are still hot, brush them with the sweet chili sauce, then serve.
