Fried Apples

  • 2 large Granny Smith apples peeled, cored and sliced into wedges
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch nutmeg


  1. Melt the butter on medium heat in a cast iron skillet or saute pan. Add in the sliced apples, sugar and salt.
  2. Cook the apples over medium heat for 10 minutes, until they begin to soften, but aren’t mushy.
  3. Add in the cinnamon, nutmeg , vanilla extract and lemon juice. Cook for another 30 seconds, then remove from the heat. Serve warm.
