Coffee Coquito (Puerto Rican Eggnog)

A coffee flavored twist on this classic Puerto Rican holiday beverage

Ingredients

  • 2 cups pour over brewed coffee cooled
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 1 can cream of coconut the sweet stuff you use for pina coladas

  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup Puerto Rican rum (light or dark) you can add more or less, to your taste

Instructions

  1. Combine the coffee, milks and cream of coconut in a blender.

  2. Add the cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. Blend to combine.

  3. Add the rum (if desired). Refrigerate for 1 hour, to allow the flavors to blend.

  4. Serve cold.

Feel free to add more or less rum, just replace any amount you cut with an equal amount of whole milk.

For even more coffee flavor, add 1-2 teaspoons of instant espresso powder to the mix. 

Can't drink or don't like rum? Substitute a flavored vodka (I suggest coconut or vanilla!)

For a non-alcoholic or virgin coquito, cut out the rum, and replace it with whole milk.
