Fried Apples | Delish D'Lites

Butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla and apples…does it get any better? Fried apples are soul-soothing, comfort food that warms you from the the inside out.  I’ve loved them since I tried them at my local Cracker Barrel, so I decided to recreate them at home.  This recipe comes together so quickly, it’s even a great dessert option when you’re in a pinch.  This recipe double and triples easily, so make extra!  One taste, and you’ll understand why.

ingredients

2 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced into wedges
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 pinch of salt
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 pinch of nutmeg

directions

Melt the butter on medium heat in a cast iron skillet or saute pan.  Add in the sliced apples, sugar and salt.  The butter and sugar will create a delicious, sticky glaze to coat the apples.

Cook the apples over medium heat for 10 minutes, until they begin to soften, but aren’t mushy.

Add in the cinnamon, nutmeg , vanilla extract and lemon juice.  Cook for another 30 seconds, then remove from the heat.

  1. They are delicious! Now take those apples and place them in a crescent roll!! Put them in a casserole dish and pour remaining apples and syrup over the top and bake!
