Puerto Ricans love the holiday season. I’m serious, guys, We really, really, REALLY LOVE to celebrate. Believe it or not, Puerto Rico takes pride in having the longest holiday season in the world! For six straight weeks, you can find us hosting lots of parties with friends and family, featuring festive music and delicious food. And no Puerto Rican fiesta is complete without coquito, the official holiday beverage of the island.
Coquito is reminiscent of eggnog, but it features the tropical flavors of coconut, cinnamon and rum (OH YEAH!). Everyone has their own recipe, and they’re usually closely guarded family secrets, so I’m super excited to share this recipe for coffee coquito with you. Flavored versions of coquito are a newer trend, and I’ve seen lots of different flavors, like pistachio, chocolate, and of course, coffee!

Recipe Notes
Feel free to add more or less rum, just replace any amount you cut with an equal amount of whole milk.
For even more coffee flavor, add 1-2 teaspoons of instant espresso powder to the mix.Â
Can’t drink or don’t like rum? Substitute a flavored vodka (I suggest coconut or vanilla!)
For a non-alcoholic or virgin coquito, cut out the rum, and replace it with whole milk.Â

Hubby loved this recipe! I used Cafe Bustelo because I do not have a pour over machine and it was great!
